Events - October 13th, 2009
The 2009 season is quickly drawing to a close, but we
still have a few very important events coming up.
Motul Track Day #4 - Sunday October 25th
Our
final track day at Mission Raceway is scheduled for Sunday October 25.
As we will have senior drivers to provide instruction, novices are
welcome to join. There are still some spaces available, so don't delay
and register now to save your spot!

Annual General Meeting and ELT Nominations - Tue November 3rd, 7pm
Nominate
your friends or yourself for the various 2010 Executive Leadership Team
positions. Give back to the club by helping to organize and run the
events for next year. It is fun and a great way to make new friends.

Join
us at 7 pm Tuesday November 3 at Blitzgear Studios in Richmond to vote
in your picks for ELT. We need a minimum of 10% of our membership to be

Year End Banquet - November 14th, 6pm
This
year's banquet will be held on Saturday November 14 at Kirin Starlight
in New Westminister. We have an 11-course menu lined up, and too many
door prizes to list! Purchase your tickets online before Monday October

Challenge 2009 - May 22nd, 2009
VCMC Motorsport Club, in partnership with Kumho

Canada, is
once again proud to host the Kumho Super Challenge on the weekend of
August 1-2 in beautiful Pitt Meadows, British Columbia. The Kumho Super
Challenge is a highly anticipated event, drawing top-notch drivers for
some of the most intense competition of the season. This is the must
attend autocross event of the year!
Kumho Super Challenge Highlights
- two days of intense competition
- exciting Sunday shootout
- Friday test and tune
- catered lunch and refreshments throughout the weekend
- door prizes including a set of Kumho tires

some quick updates.
Pitt Meadows
BCDC Updates
Our
continuing goal to work with BC Driving Center, the city of Pitt
Meadows and the local residents has allowed us to set 3 event dates.
These 3 events will showcase what the autocross community is all about
and show how we conduct ourselves in a professional manner. These
events are possible thanks to the local community for working with us
to resolve any problems, and will continue in the future.
The local autocross clubs have been working together and will be
enforcing strict rules and regulations for these events. We are still
in the process of producing a general guideline for the events, but for
starters we have:
-50 drivers max per event
-No first time drivers
-$40 entry fee inc. day membership (no membership required)
-92 db sound limit
The dates are scheduled for March 1st, 15th and 29th. There is a
possibility of date changes.
VCMC
will be hosting the first event on March 1, 2009
Again big thanks to the Pitt Meadows community for helping our sport
move forward. I'm sure when we get this all settled, we will make
everyone happy and look forward to more events in the future.

It is with great sadness that we announce the
sudden
passing of Sam O’Young, cofounder of VCMC. Members who wish to
pay their respects can do so at the funeral service taking place on
Saturday December 6th at 10:30 am at the Forest
Lawn in Burnaby.

VCMC ELT would like to invite you to come to our
Test
and Tune and Novice Championship Tour Race #3 this weekend.
Test
and Tune - Sat June 14th, 2008
A Test and Tune event is a non-competition event with a simple and
short (~30s) course and limited number of drivers (45 drivers), result
in maximum amount of seat time for drivers to experiment with different
setups and driving styles. You must be a VCMC member to participate.
NCT3
Bring your dad to race Sun June 15th, 2008
NCT is a series designed for those new to the sport and provides a
great avenue for friendly competition.

NCT 2008 is shaping up to be the biggest ever!

Novices came out to the first NCT event of 2008. Despite the forecast
of rain, we had 107 drivers in total, and still managed 8 runs! The
minor shower in the afternoon did not stop us from having fun, and
instead added an extra level of challenge with the mixed conditions.

March 29th 2008 VCMC @ Vancouver
International
Auto Show
The Vancouver
International Auto Show is taking place from Saturday March 29th
until Sunday April 6th. VCMC will have a booth at the show so stop by
and say hi! Volunteers from our club will be out every day of the show
telling people about our club and all the fun events we run. If this is
your first time visiting our website be sure to check out all the
information about our Novice Championship Tour, our Velocity Driving
school and our FAQ for people new to the sport of autocross. The first
event of our Novice Series is on April 27th and new members are always
welcome. If after looking through our website you still have questions
look through our forum or e-mail someone from our contact page.

them r-comps, grab your helmet and come on out for our first event of

very special appearance from a very special guest. Darryl gave an
engaging talk on his path to become a professional driver, and showed
his in car video of his race in Macau.

O'Young. Mr. O'Young is a past karting champion, son of VCMC
club co-founder Sam O'Young, VCMC graduate, and is now a professional
race driver in Europe and Asia. His accomplishments include the 2006
Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Championship.
