Our season finale on September 22 included a food drive where members gave generously to help the needy in the Pitt Meadows community. This was part of a greater effort by several user groups of the JIBC/YPK facility. The Friends in Need Food Bank recognized our efforts on their website. As we approach the holiday season, please remember the less fortunate in your community and help where you can.
Thanks to the members of the VCMC Motorsport and UBCSCC car clubs along with Cyclelogics Motorcycle which designated the Friends in Need Food Bank as their annual charity. In their first year the total amount of funds raised was $1,243 plus over 100 lbs of food. The Friends in Need thank these motorsport organizations for their generosity.
The first annual cheque & food donation presentation were made at the car track at Pitt Meadows Airport in September 2013 . In this photo from left to right is Derek Choi, President (VCMC Motorsport), Randy Cook, Owner (Cyclelogics/Pitt Meadows Track Days), Kevan Cote, President (UBCSCC), Andrew Field, Co-ordinator (Justice Institute) and of course Pat. It was a very windy day!
The Justice Institute leases the track to the car clubs. Andrew Field, Co-ordinator was instrumental in suggesting the fundraiser for the Friends in Need Food Bank. Kudos to Glenn Ralph, Manager of the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport for telling Andrew about the food bank and what a great community project it would be for the car clubs.
