Thread: 2017 ASN/FIA Canadian Autoslalom Championship

  1. Re: 2017 ASN/FIA Canadian Autoslalom Championship

    Jordan,

Will you be wanting volunteers for this event? If so, could you please put me down for being able to help on the Saturday and Sunday. Not too sure about the Friday but will let you know,

    Carol

  2. Re: 2017 ASN/FIA Canadian Autoslalom Championship

A couple of questions about the CACC license.

    - My club does not charge for membership and does not issue membership cards but this is required by CACC. Would it be sufficient to include race results from this year?

    - I don't trust CACC to collect and store my driver license details. I have no issue with them checking my license at the event but collection and storage is a different story. It's also not compliant with the federal "COLLECTION OF DRIVER’S LICENCE
NUMBERS UNDER PRIVATE SECTOR PRIVACY LEGISLATION" guidelines. Will the CACC license admin be present at the event to check driver licenses instead?

    - Where is the proceeding from the license fees going? I wasn't able to find the CACC budget for this year.

    Thanks,
    Mazda Demio - STF

Yes, you can leave your car and everything in your pit set up for the entire event.

Last year, we had to have the CACC license, but I also noticed many cars did NOT have numbers on them.
So, before I order numbers, can we find out if numbers and class are going to be required for this event ?

    Yes they are required

    VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION

    • All competition cars must have and display a unique number (Numbers made from masking tape are acceptable)
    • Properly identified as per 4.4 of the 2017 AutoSlalom Regulations.
    • The competitor is responsible for displaying their competition numbers and class on each side of the car and must be in place at tech inspection.

    Thanks,
Have you already registered for the event? If so I can just issue you a VCMC membership card (our membership fees are built into event entry prices) which will be sufficient to apply for the CACC license.

If I am a member of another club, do I get the VCMC membership fee discounted from the entry fee? Seems a little unfair to charge other club members a VCMC membership fee when they don't need it? I can see the reason for club events, but not for a National Event open to all ASN affiliated clubs across Canada.

There is no membership fee. It's included - as in there is no charge

Jordan's post indicated that the membership FEES are built into the event entry prices. That would imply the fee is added to the entry, and that could be interpreted as a cash grab could it not?

Yes it could be interpreted that way, but that is not the case.... VCMC does not charge a membership fee.

Yes, as Dave clarified we did away with Membership fees a couple years ago. Now you become a member with VCMC by signing up for any of our events.

I have and I just sent an email to memberships. What's going to happen when I sign up for CACC and don't provide them with a copy of my DL? I hope they accept it or else I'm going to need a refund.

I would suggest that is a question for CACC. VCMC doesn't have any control or involvement in issuing CACC licences.

What are we running against in this event?
Class only? By group? Or overall pax?

    As per supplemental regs

    2.1 TITLES UP FOR GRABS
    - Canadian Autoslalom Champion Overall (PAX)
    - Canadian Autoslalom Champion by class
    - Overall Ladies (Pax)
    - Overall Novice (Pax)

Quick question about numbers - do we need class decals as well? 4.4 in the ASN SoloSport Regs discusses a minimum height and stroke for numbers, and shows classes in the graphic, but does not specify a minimum size / stroke.

    Thank you

Yes as per the supplemental regs 5.2, class identification is required for this event. As you noted the 4.4 does not discuss a minimum height and stroke of the class letters and as such is not controlled.

Although not required, I suggest that the guidelines used by SCCA for class identification size and stoke be used.

Numbers must be a minimum of 8” (20.5 cm) high with a 1¼” (3.25 cm)
stroke. Class letters must be a minimum of 4” (10.25 cm) high with a ¾”
    (2 cm) stroke
. In all cases, the height of the class letters must be between
25% and 75% of the height of the numbers. Stroke width must be at least
10% of the height (see Appendix F.)
    34 — 2017 SCCA® National Solo® Rules

Please note that masking tape is acceptable for Numbers and Class identification.
