    Hi Folks!

I recently moved to Vancouver and I'm planning to register for this event. I have experience with AutoX, about 6 events under my belt in the SCCA, but never here in BC. In my previous club I raced in a somewhat specialized local class and I'm trying to figure out where I would run with VCMC. My car is a 240sx that has extensive modifications, but street tires. Swapped engine (JDM Engine), custom suspension, brakes etc. I always ran in a class with extremely fast cars and I was never competitive. I understand that I wouldn't be running with street classes, but it would be fun to be competitive. I don't know exactly where I would fit. As far as SCCA is concerned I think I would be in Street Modified, but I'm not really sure as I think they run race tires.

    Thanks for the help!

We run the exact same classes as SCCA. Street Modified (SM) is where your car will be as a result of the motor swap. It is a race tire class but you can still run it with street tires, you will just be a bit less competitive. There are no classes that your car qualifies for that are designed to run street tires but also allow a motor swap.

    Hope that helps,

That's what I expected. The club I was a part of had a specialized class (just for their region) that was the same as SM but limited everyone to street tires. It was, in my opinion, a really great idea. It was the perfect catch all class for people that like to modify their cars, but still keeps people competitive by limiting tire selection. All is well, SM will have a new bottom dweller for this event

We need hands to help with JIBC set up, this counts as your work assignment for the day and it would really help us out. If we get 5 people it takes about 20 minutes to complete.

If you can help out, please let us know

    Thanks !

    Dave

Just as a quick note, I notice there are a fair number of cars that are incorrectly classed, at least at first glance they appear to be, might be worth checking:

    SM:
    996TT (should be SSM)
    Miata (should be SSM)

    SSP:
    Miata (should be CSP)

    STS:
    Skyline (should be SM)
    STI (should be STU)
    135i (should be STU)
    Evo (should be STU)

    STR:
    90 Miata (should be STS)

    STU:
98 Evo (should be SM - not sold in North America)
