Wear bars should be typically around 2mm or 2.5/32 - 3/32 inch

It says to refer to the 2006 autosalom regulations. So I assume Tom and me are ok with our factory roll hoops?

so can i safely assume that my tires, with about 1.5mm of tread until wear bar, will pass inspection?

  7. Re: *** MUST READ **** Mission Track Day Event Registration Information

I would think so! I carry a tread depth gauge in my car so next time you see me, we'll measure

    Update:

Just got off the phone with Tony Morris Jr. he has staff avaible to do corner work for us at a fee. So most likely we don't need to work at the stations.

With regarding to the registration on Karelo, please state clearly the number of track events you have attended, and where. Please don't just say 1 track day/2 track day w/o the track name.

Re: *** MUST READ **** Mission Track Day Event Registration Information

    Hey guys,

I was at Mission yesterday for an open lapping session and took this video of the track. My camera has a very poor video function that limits it to 3 mins and combine its poor video quality with youtube's compression and you get something kinda ugly. But this will give you an idea of what the track is like and should also reinforce the fact you need to be careful with all that concrete lining the track.

Remember to control yourselves out there. Take it easy like I'm doing in the video and you'll have a fun day. Considering the amount of people you'll have out there with all different skill levels and car capabilities, you need to give each other some room as you are entering the corners.

For you newbies, you'll be given instructions at the track for when and where it's OK to pass someone and you'll (barely) be able to see an example of that in my video as I'm passing the Driving Unlimited race car at 0:40. What you can't see is that the driver has been paying attention to the rear view mirror and saw me approaching. This part is important....the driver then stays on the line and extends his arm out the window to give me a "point by" to let me know that he's expecting me to pass. You can only pass someone when they do this for safety's sake. Never pass someone unless you get that point by, along with the other conditions you are told in the driver's meeting.

Here's the video and it starts entering turn 8.

Have a great day out there!

Cool vid, Allan....man, your car accelerates quickly and very linearly. So No turbo lag makes HedgeHogs jealous.

BTW, you can use the curbs on Turn 4 and Turn 8. They are very low and won't throw your car to the side.

Edit: Being a lame@$$ copy cat, here is my vid...

Allan, you rock man. I've never seen someone thoroughly enjoy their car as much as you do!

LOL! Thanks Dustin. I still can't believe the folks out there who buy a car like the GT3 and let it rot in their garage. I really care about my car so I treat it right, but the car was meant to be driven!

Hedwig: Thanks for posting the video. Yours is nicer than my "mess". Maybe half the time I go on the curbing on T8, but T4/T5/T6 bugs me so I'm a little apprehensive about it. I just see danger everywhere in that section so I take it real easy.

    Cheers,

As it is my first time at Mission, should I be classed in the novice group? I have some track experience but not that much. Maybe start in novice and go to intermediate if I am running quicker than novice?

You might want to remove the email address from the list Dustin. The spam bots love lists with email addresses.

You're being wise, Mark. Good on ya. I also belong to the Performance Driver's Club and even if you have several track days under your belt but have never been to Mission, you are required to start in the first timer's group.

Mission isn't a fast track, it's a technical track. Letting a relative newbie loose out there can be a very bad thing. I watched a guy destroy his Ferrari there a while back. It was sad.

The way ProFormance runs it for novices (the one I did earlier this year) is with the four 25-min sessions, novices cannot pass anyone except for the last session, and only in one place on the track. They also do a lot more with breaking up the novice sessions into small groups of 3 cars and have an instructor for each group and control what happens in each of the 4 sessions. The first session starts off slow and easy by playing "follow the leader" as the instructor drives the lead car on the proper line, progressing to the instructor riding shotgun, to solo lapping to finally limited passing between T2 and T3 during the last session.

To me that seems like a smart thing to do in order to have a safe event. I'm not sure what the format is going to be for you guys but I hope it's "slow and easy" with progessively allowing more freedom as you guys get comfortable on the track. I sure don't want to be reading sad stories about you guys on this forum.
