The return of the Civic Hatchback?

    Honda CR-Z

Looks like a potentially good HS car.

Probably the best looking hybrid (*cough gimmick cough*) on the market -or coming to market I should say.

But hybrids tend to be heavy I think which might reduce its competitiveness.

The car merely seems like a 2-door version of the lackluster Insight. Although it looks waaaaay better than anything else Honda/Acura has recently came up with, it is still rather ugly.

    No thank you.

What about the first gen Insight? It's all aluminium ala. the NSX , only around 1800lbs and I think it was double-wishbone. I wonder why you don't see many of them, seems a good recipe for an HS car.

I hear the gearing is pretty tall though, which is a failure for anything with 80hp... And the stock wheels are very very skinny which would not do well for a stock class...

Re: The return of the Civic Hatchback?

    some info about the CRZ

the curb weight for the 6MT version starts at 1130kg (2491lbs) and the CVT version starts at 1160kg (2557 lb) with the CVT. According to HNSXR, a "fully optioned" CVT-equipped CR-Z weighs about 1180kg (2601 lb). We can also see the wheel and tire size (195/55R-16).

According to another one of our Japanese readers, one of these pages confirms something that we were already pretty sure about, and that's the suspension configuration. Up front, it's MacPherson struts and (as I reported based upon the 2009 Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show), the rear is torsion beam.

I think the first gen insight was all electric rather than hybrid no?

The Insight weighed 1,847 lb (838 kg) in manual transmission(w/ AC+ an other 30lbs)

The gasoline engine is a 70 hp (52 kW; 71 PS), 1-liter, ECA series 3-cylinder unit providing lean burn operation with an air fuel ratio that can reach 25.8 to 1.[9] The electrical motor assist adds in another 10 kW (13 hp) when called on
